Yes, you can eat great burger in Vienna and yes, we don’t think that McDonald’s is the place to go. As a matter of fact one of the best places in Vienna to grab a great burger is Smokey’s (http://www.smokeys.at). There are two restaurants: one is right in the city centre and the other one is pretty close to the centre opposite the Donaukanal.
They definitely use some of the freshest groundbeef for their burger in Vienna so you can take the medium which I certainly can recommend. The taste is awesome. If you come for lunch there is a lunch special every day. Today they had a Ginger Chicken Burger with their homemade fries and a salad as a starter. It was yummy although I am not a particular fan of sauces like BBQ sauce the taste of that sauce was great.
So if you can choose where to go for a great burger in Vienna Smokey’s is certainly the place to go plus: don’t forget their home icetea and lemonade.
Address: Obere Donaustrasse 97-99, 1020 Vienna, http://www.smokeys.at
that is the Songtsen Gampo (http://tibet-restaurant.at). It is the only Tibet Restaurant in Austria and I love going there. Still, I have to admit that I haven’t been here for quite some time.
But today I was able to go there for lunch. And since I didn’t know what to take I followed the advice on foursquare and ordered the momos. It was the mixed momos (non-vegetarian). In the middle of the plate was some glas noodle salad with a few tomatos on top. I liked it. But the best was the momos. One kind was with cheese and herbs, the other one with potatos, a third kind with meat plus two with cabbage. I liked them all.
For all our non-smokers. This restaurant decided for itself to become a non-smoking environment. I do appreciate that too!
Just in case you decide to go there. You can find the restaurant right opposite the Volksoper. The subway stop is U6 Währinger Strasse/Volksoper
don’t go here … honestly! The place is called Asayake and is on the first floor of the Ringstrasse Galerien. I tried it last Friday and was disappointed considering … I just wanted to have some sushi and this place turned out to be a sushi place without much selection and the quality was disappointing considering the price I had to pay … in the end I compared it to the half-price sushi places I usually go to and thought if this sushi costs twice as much it has to be twice as good … on the contrary …
… but the rest is really nice …. was there with follow twitterers … took the trout with rice and salad … lots of their food is organic … also the beer … at least the Hadmar Bio Beer, which comes from the far north of Austria … almost at the border to the Czech Republic … anyhow the fish was good … almost too good since I forgot to take a pic from the whole fish … also at a reasonable price … eating fish or seafood at restaurants in Vienna can be quite pricy … but 8,50 Euro for this meal was ok …
… that’s what my parents and friends r doing every year … we r going to Pizzeria Spessore (http://www.pizzeria-spessore.at) which is in Korneuburg, town close to Vienna … the food is really great … I had the Penne tricolore something … can’t remember the whole name … but it was delicious … as a starter I had the minestrone … I loved it … and our dessert, which we shared … first come first serve … was chestnut rice … a cream made from chestnuts and whipped cream on top … mmmhh … nice
